Shenton Avenue Medical Centre is pleased to announce that we have appointed WADMS as our deputised after hours medical service. This means that WADMS will be available with immediate effect to visit our patients in their homes. WADMS offers an in-hours and after-hours service. If you are in need of medical assistance during surgery hours, all requests for a doctor to visit you at home must be arranged by your Medical Practice on your behalf (if your GP is a member of our Deputising Service). Our after-hours care is designed to offer you a solution for any unexpected illness or injury when your regular GP is not available or the Medical Practice is closed. For routine consultations, we encourage patients to see their own GP during surgery hours.
WADMS is a mixed billing service. Pensioners, Veterans Affairs (gold cards), Children (up to 16 years) & Health Care Card holders can be bulk-billed. Speak to a member of our call centre team to confirm the fee you will be charged. WADMS is not equipped to deal with medical emergencies and in an emergency you should always call 000 or if able, make your way to the nearest Accident and Emergency Department.
Once you have used the WADMS Service it will send us a record of the visit, including details of any medicines prescribed to ensure that you receive continuity of care from your usual GP. You can find out more about WADMS at http://wadms.org.au/
